<h1><b><span style="font-size: 24.0pt;">IT Workers Are Happy, But Will Still Leave for Something Better</span></b></h1>
<h2><b><span style="font-size: 18.0pt;">Despite overall satisfaction with their current job situation, IT workers still show a readiness to jump ship when the next best thing comes along.</span></b></h2>
<p style=""><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Times New Roman,serif;"><a href="http://www.cio.com">CIO</a> &#8212; The majority of IT employees are engaged at work, loyal to their employers and inspired to do their best every day, according to new survey findings from Randstad Technologies and Technisource. However, despite that, more than half (53 percent) are open to new employment opportunities, Think of it as the IT sector&#8217;s version of The Five Year Engagement, a new film about a couple that is happy to be engaged but put marriage plans on an indefinite hold. </span></p>
<p style=""><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">&quot;The takeaway for employers is that they use whatever means to create a strong bond with their employees by engaging, recognizing and empowering them in order to minimize attrition,&quot; said Bob Dickey, executive vice president of technologies at Randstad U.S.</span></p>
<p style=""><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">The latest Randstad Engagement Index findings, conducted in February, surveyed 3,000 IT workers, nationwide. The Randstad Engagement Index measures the attitudes and perceptions impacting employee engagement within companies.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">Looking at IT sector&#8217;s response to Randstad&#8217;s six components of engagement, the survey found the following:</span></p>
<ul type="disc">
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">76 percent of IT employees are proud to work for their company</span></li>
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">63 percent of IT employees enjoy going to work every day</span></li>
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">75 percent of employees feel inspired to do their best each day</span></li>
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">68 percent of IT employees feel their efforts at work are recognized and valued</span></li>
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">67 percent indicate they trust their company leadership to make good decisions for the workforce</span></li>
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">67 percent of employees believe their company shares their values</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">Not only did the survey indicate that IT employees are clearly satisfied with their jobs and employers but 80 percent feel secure in their jobs, and they&#8217;re optimistic about the future:</span></p>
<ul type="disc">
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">More than three-fourths, or 77 percent, believe their company has a great future</span></li>
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">64 percent believe their company is making the right investments in their workforce for the future</span></li>
<li style=""><span style="font-size: 11.0pt;">60 percent report being only a little or not at all concerned about having to take a pay cut</span></li>
</ul>
<h3><b><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">IT Workers Looking for the Next Best Thing</span></b></h3>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">Despite the rosy relationship with their current job situation, IT respondents still showed a readiness to jump ship when the next best thing comes along. And, survey results indicate that 59 percent of respondents believe that those opportunities are on the horizon as more than half believe that the job market will pick up in 2012.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">According to Dickey, opportunities in the IT sector are opening up with increasing pressure to find top talent. In fact, recent job demand in IT is for higher-level positions, such as project mangers, business architects and data analysts.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">&quot;What this tells us is that the economy is picking up as more companies start new project initiatives and make investments in infrastructure and development,&quot; he said. Dickey noted that improvements in IT job hiring is often a bell weather for overall employment growth. </span></p>

<p style=""><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">I talk to a lot of CIOs. I met with one in early May who oversees the IT operation of a $6 billion yearly entertainment-related company with about 7,000 employees. This top-notch exec was all about transforming a huge investment in existing IT infrastructure into a new dynamic, extensible and agile platform that would propel the business forward &#8211; not hold it back. This guy is busy figuring out how to keep a Boeing 777 up in the air while simultaneously re-fitting aircraft to make it best-in-class.</span></p>
<p style=""><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">That&#8217;s what IT should be all about.</span></p>
<p style=""><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">But in some organizations, it&#8217;s not. Either the message from the top gets lost as it percolates down through the IT organization, or the message from the top isn&#8217;t the right one to begin with. Either way, for those unfortunate IT organizations, IT is a ball-and-chain that holds the enterprise back, rather than gives it the capability to move forward.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Collaborating with project teams to set up database, DB interface, and production set-up and configuration.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Managing user security and access to databases to provide controlled access environment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Investigating, reviewing, applying and testing all patches and bug fixes in the database environment and providing consultation on patch management, custom interface design and operational implementation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Interacting with developers and programmers in order to design/review programs, custom interfaces and queries according to standards.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Utilizing data management tools such as SSIS, SSAS, DTS, and SSRS</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Will be required to be on an on-call rotation</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Bachelor&#8217;s degree preferred.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* 5 to 7+ years&#8217; experience of Database Administration, Database Design, Performance Analysis, and Production Support</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2000/2005 or greater, 2005+ preferred</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">* Strong database administration skills with an emphasis on enterprise scale architecture</span></p>

<p style=""><b><span style="font-size: 8.0pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: bold;">SCOPE<br /></span></b><span style="font-size: 8.0pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"><br />The Programmer/Analyst II is competent to work at the highest level of technical complexity under broad direction on projects and/or programs. The Programmer/Analyst II is accountable for designing, coding, testing, documenting and implementing computer programs for new or existing applications.
<p /><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">ACCOUNTABILITIES<br /></span></b><br />Develops detailed program specifications including design of online screen and/or reports by working with project management and/or end users and receiving instruction and direction.
<p />Converts project specifications into sequential, detailed instructions and logical steps for coding into computer processing language by creating flowcharts and/or pseduo-code where applicable.
<p />Considers all aspects of project such as hardware design, hardware limitations, operating time, format of desired results and any other system constraints by working with project management.
<p />Eliminates errors before moving project to Quality Assurance by testing and debugging programs.
<p />Maintains and enhances existing application programs by continually improving understanding of user’s needs and how the system can better support the user.
<p />Formulates project plan by working with project management and outlining steps required to develop project and submits project plan to project management for approval.
<p />Understands current operating procedures by consulting with users and reviewing project objectives.
<p />Completes project assignments in a timely manner by receiving directions and project assignment priority from Project Leader/Manager.
<p />Ensures a timely progression of project completion by coordinating testing activities, including test data and results, with Quality Assurance.
<p />Develops programs that run efficiently and adhere to client standards by minimizing excess overhead in applications and re-using code and coding techniques.
<p />Ensures long term maintainability of the system by documenting project according to client guidelines.
<p />Provides resolutions to problems by taking the initiative to use all resources available for research.
<p />Provides programmer support on a 24-hour basis by participating in the Programmer of the Week (POW) rotation.
<p />Participates in the development of new Programmer/Analysts I by providing guidance and training as needed.
<p />Serves as lead programmer by overseeing assigned project.
<p /><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE<br /></span></b><br />High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science preferred; four to seven years related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
<p /><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">SKILLS &amp; CERTIFICATIONS<br /></span></b><br />• Knowledge of COBOL, CICS, z/OS, JCL, and/or C and AIX, and/or Java/Websphere/ Java Swing.
<p />• Possesses keyboard proficiency.
<p />• Ability to type 40 words per minute.
<p />• Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills.
<p />• Possesses strong attention to detail skills.
<p />• Possesses strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
<p />• Ability to analyze the impact of decisions before execution.

<p />The Network Analyst II is accountable for designing, installing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining all Network infrastructure including related hardware equipment and software to ensure optimal operation of all Networks including Local Area Networks, Storage Area Networks and Wide Area Networks. The Network Analyst II handles assignments of a more complex nature with limited direction/guidance.
<p />Ensures optimal performance of all Networks by proactively conducting ongoing performance monitoring and by tuning/adjusting as necessary.
<p />Provides effective Level II help desk support on a 24/7 basis by researching/analyzing issues/requests to determine Network related implications, effectively communicating with all impacted parties and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with a sense of urgency to minimize any system downtime.
<p />Ensures optimal Network design and set-up by conducting effective new hardware/software installations, hardware/software replacements/upgrades and by performing reconfigurations as needed. Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
<p />Ensures Network security integrity by correctly configuring and maintaining Network hardware/software and by monitoring and maintaining security systems (e.g. intrusion detection system, firewalls, etc.).
<p />EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE
<p />A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred plus three to five years of Network related experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience preferred.
<p />REQUIREMENTS
<p />• Extensive knowledge of network hubs, routers, switches, network infrastructure design, protocol and network analyzers, wiring standards, and the TCP/IP protocol.<br />• The position requires a mature and responsible individual with strong initiative, analytical skills and judgment to independently handle assignments.<br />• Strong knowledge of Cisco routers, switches and Pix / ASA firewalls, VPN and VOIP. Cisco Nexus administration required.<br />• Working knowledge of WANs (T1&#8242;s, T3&#8242;s, MPLS and point-to-point)<br />• Strong routing skills especially competent on EIGRP and BGP routing protocols. <br />• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Design Associate certification (CCDA) preferred. ITIL practice or certification(s) heavily preferred.<br />• Knowledge of Windows Servers.<br />• Familiarity with setting up network printers and printing.<br />• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.<br />• Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.<br />• Strong attention to detail skills.<br />• Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style.<br />• Good verbal and written communications skills with the ability to effectively document procedures.<br />• Must be able to work weekends and after business hours as required.<br />• Possess accurate keyboarding proficiency.<br />• Must be self-motivated to learn all aspects of networking.<br />• Energetic and eager to learn.

<p />PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:
<p />• Ability to sit at a desk for an extended period of time.<br />• Ability to look at and work on CRT for an extended period of time.<br />• Ability to lift and carry computer equipment (up to 75lbs)<br />• Must be able to work in a low temperature climate controlled computer room.<br />• Must be able to travel to metro and outlying locations, as required.</span><span style="font-size: 8.0pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"></span></p>
